Working up a sweat

During exercise you’ll probably work up a sweat. But sweat and moisture are your hearing aids’ worst enemy.

Thanks to advances in hearing aid technology many hearing aids now have moisture control features that help keep water out of your hearing aids. But it’s still a good idea to take extra precautions to helps extend the lifespan of your hearing aids.

Hearing aid sweatbands or nylon sleeves capture your sweat before it reaches your hearing aid. They’re easy to wash and are an excellent way of protecting your hearing aids.

Use it - don't lose it

To prevent the loss or damage of your hearing aids while exercising, you'll need to keep them securely in place. You can use a double-sided tape that’s suitable for sensitive skin, such as toupee tape, or a hearing aid clip that will help prevent your hearing aid becoming accidentally dislodged from your ear.

High and dry

After exercising, make sue your hearing aids are clean and dry.

Using a hearing aid dehumidifier or a dry box is a good way to get rid of excess moisture.

Storing your hearing aids in a bag of uncooked rice or salt (preferably large grains, so the small grains don’t get lodged in your hearing aids) is also an economical way to keep your hearing aids moisture free.
