From 4 – 10 July the historic market town of Newbury, which is home to Mary Hare Hearing Centre, is holding its own Shop Local Week.
The aim of the special week is to encourage local people to make the most of their town centre by using it for their shopping needs.
Newbury’s trading history goes back as far as Anglo-Saxon times, with a local market being held in the town. Market trading in Newbury still continues today, with markets running every Thursday and Saturday between 9am and 4pm.
Newbury is home to many large national retailers, such as John Lewis at home, Marks and Spencer and Debenhams. But it also has a large selection of independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
Mary Hare Hearing Centre opened in Weavers Walk, Newbury in 2006 after many years of operation from premises near Greenham Common.
Mary Hare Hearing Centre is part of Mary Hare Hearing Services. It’s a joint venture company part owned by the Mary Hare charity. Due to this unique partnership, 50% of all our profits go towards Mary Hare School. So by choosing to shop locally you’re actively supporting a charity for profoundly deaf children and young people.
