May the 4th be with youStar Wars Day, May 4, celebrates the Star Wars series of films which were created by George Lucas.

The date was chosen for the easy pun on the catchphrase "May the Force be with you" as "May the Fourth be with you". Even though Star Wars Day wasn’t actually created or declared by Lucasfilm, many Star Wars fans across the world have chosen to celebrate their love of the film franchise annually on this day.

This year, Mary Hare’s WEAR IT LOUD campaign falls on Thursday 4 May - Star Wars Day. So why not combine your love of Star Wars with wearing it loud for Mary Hare? You could be Yoda in yellow, Obi-Wan Kenobi in orange, Boba Fett in blue or Rey in red.

By dressing up in your brightest and loudest clothes you could make a real difference and help support the education of deaf children and young people from across the UK.

How you can join in

  • Ask your workplace to hold a WEAR IT LOUD day sometime between 1-7 May. Pay £1 and wear your loudest and brightest clothes to actively support the education of deaf children and young people at Mary Hare School in Newbury.
  • Text to donate MARY20 followed by the amount you wish to donate (e.g. £5, £10, £20) to 70070.
  • Help with the street collection, taking place in Newbury town centre, on Thursday 4 May. Any time you can spare between 10am and 3pm would be really appreciated. Please contact Anne on 01635 244204 or email a.munby@maryhare.org.uk
