Royal Berks Show 2016The Royal County of Berkshire Show is just over 3 weeks away (16 & 17 September 2017) and the Mary Hare Foundation has been chosen as the President’s Charity of the Year.

Mary Hare School receives funds from many local authorities for the children who attend. However this fee only covers the cost of teaching and caring for the children whilst at school. All other developments depend on donations and fundraising. Since it was created The Mary Hare Foundation has raised more than £8 million for the improvement of the facilities for the pupils. This has included the recent renovation of the swimming pool and an addition to the Year 7 boarding house. But, the Foundation’s biggest fundraising project has just begun as it embarks on its new campaign to raise money to build a new, state of the art Primary School to give deaf children the modern learning environment they deserve.

Kirsten Loyd, President of The Newbury & District Agricultural Society, said, “I am incredibly proud to be a Governor of the school and Chairman of Trustees for the Foundation. The staff at Mary Hare School do a wonderful job in safeguarding the future of deaf children.”

Peter Gale, Principal of Mary Hare School, “I am really delighted that the Society President has chosen Mary Hare as its nominated charity in 2017. Our pupils have always enjoyed attending, especially those pupils from our vocational courses programme who enter animals in the show. I would like to thank the President and all the organisers for their support in this way."
